Burned for centuries in religious and cleansing rituals, Oud is now a costly material, the unique odour created by a fungus Philophora parasitica, that only affects around one in fifteen trees in the Aquilaria genus. Real oud has a pungent animalic woodiness, that can have facets of dark treacle, church smoke, aged rum, sherry, vanilla pods and pipe smoke.
Oud Sapphire wraps the oud in powdery ambrette, saffron and black pepper. Osmanthus exalts the oud over rich resins, woods and iris. The oud smoulders with seductive cunning, drawing out the configured depths of what lies beneath with lingering effect.
